“Divorce Mediation: Information You Want to Know”
Divorce can be a difficult process that often leaves people emotionally and financially drained. Divorce mediation, on the other hand, is an approach that helps couples work through the challenges of divorce while fostering respect and minimizing negative effects on the entire family. In a majority of cases, divorce mediation is faster and less expensive than the traditional adversarial process. MWI mediators work with clients to help them maintain control of the divorce and to separate amicably.
Workshop Details
This workshop will address what happens in divorce mediation, from the first mediation session to filing for a 1A no-fault divorce in Massachusetts. We will discuss:
- How to determine if mediation is the appropriate process for your situation,
- The topics divorcing couples need to make decisions on,
- Court requirements, including: forms and what needs to be done before filing for divorce
- Resources, including: suggested guidelines for appropriate parenting plans, recommended books, and helpful hints for minimizing the cost of divorce.
Intended Audience
This workshop is designed for people who have made the decision to divorce and who want to learn more about participating in mediation to work out the terms of the divorce. While couples are encouraged to attend, individuals are also welcomed. Professionals interested in referring current or future clients to MWI may attend to become more familiar with MWI’s divorce mediation service.
The workshop will be led by Josh Hoch, an experienced divorce mediator and MWI’s Director of Mediation & Arbitration Services. On occasion, guest speakers are may be present including a: financial advisor, financial analyst, attorney, coach, and/or a mortgage banker.
Dates, Registration and Cost
This program is held on the third Tuesday of each month from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. The tuition for MWI Divorce Mediation Information Class is $30 per person or $50 for two people. Should you decide to work with MWI following the workshop, your tuition will be applied to the mediation sessions.
