Dispute Resolution Experience

Andrea Doneff has been mediating and arbitrating for almost 20 years. She has mediated many types of disputes, with an emphasis on contract and employment matters. Her arbitration experience concentrates on contract and employment issues. In 1992 she helped start Resolution Resources, a company that provided ADR services and training, one of the first in the Atlanta area. She was Senior Vice President of Resolution Resources, mediating, arbitrating, and training numerous new mediators.  She has been mediating in the General Motors Franchise Mediation Program and is a panel member for other franchise disputes in addition to commercial and employment matters. Her published works on ADR include co-authoring Alternatives to Litigation: Mediation, Arbitration, and the Art of Dispute Resolution, (NITA 2002), and writing “Arbitration Traps Sophisticated Parties Too,” 2 Journal of Dispute Resolution (2010). She has written several articles on mediation ethics and has spoken widely on various ADR topics.

  • For a number of years Andrea represented clients in employment disputes, representing the employer as well as the employee.
  • She negotiated, mediated, arbitrated, and litigated numerous employment cases.

  • American Bar Association’s ADR and Employment Law Sections.
  • Board member of the Atlanta Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section.
  • Prior to leaving law practice for teaching, Andrea was co-chair of the ABA’s Employee Rights and Responsibilities ADR Section.

Lectures and ADR Trainings Conducted
  • Andrea teaches Mediation and ADR every semester at John Marshall Law School, having joined the faculty as Associate Professor 3 years ago. She has also taught Transactional Drafting and Legal Writing.  Andrea is Interim Director of the Legal Skills and Professionalism Program.
  • Prior to teaching at John Marshall, Andrea taught ADR as an adjunct at Emory University School of Law for 5 years, advised the ADR Society, and coached competition teams for regional and national Negotiation, Mediation, and Arbitration competitions.
  • She has conducted numerous trainings for lawyers, insurance agents, and the general public for a number of years.
  • She is regularly asked to speak on various ADR topics for legal seminars, including introductions to ADR, mediation ethics, and recent court decisions.
