Dispute Resolution Experience

As the Newton City Solicitor for more than thirty years Dan Funk’s clients included all elected City Officials as well as all City Departments, Boards and Commissions. One of his many roles as City Solicitor encompassed the resolution of disputes of all kinds. As the City’s chief risk manager, Dan was called upon to negotiate and settle thousands of claims with an eye towards balancing the interests of all parties. In addition, as Mr. Funk regularly mediated conflicts among City officials, departments and employees. Finally, he routinely worked with all of his clients, many of whom came to the table with differing interests, to facilitate the creation and establishment of public policies and laws. Mr. Funk has been trained as a mediator by MWI and is currently participating in MWI’s district court mediation program. By combining his expertise and years of experience in municipal government along with his mediation skills, he helps to resolve conflicts and disputes in the municipal setting with a great understanding of both municipal law and municipal practice and policy. His unique combination of skills and expertise render him a premier mediator of disputes in the municipal context.
