Dispute Resolution Experience

Jane Juliano is an arbitrator, mediator, facilitator, and instructor. She is currently a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Law School, and has served as Clinical Instructor teaching mediation skills to Harvard Law School and Harvard Divinity School students. At the Harvard Kennedy School, Jane taught mediation in the Communications Program.  She is an Adjunct Professor, Mediation and Negotiation, Georgetown University Law Center and a past professor of mediation at George Washington University Law School.  Jane is a former Trial Attorney in the Tax Division of the US Department of Justice. She is an appointed mediator with the District of Columbia and Virginia Courts, the World Bank, the Federal Election Commission and Arbitrator, U.S. Library of Congress Copyright Royalty Arbitration Panel. Jane is currently on the MWI panels for the resolution of bankruptcy disputes, commercial contract disputes and construction issues as a mediator and arbitrator.  She is also an MWI facilitator having conducted a recent facilitation for a corporation and one of its divisions. Jane graduated cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center.  She is a member of the American Bar Association, Section on Dispute Resolution, has been a member of the Ethics Committee, American Bar Association, Section on Dispute Resolution and past President of the Virginia Mediation Network.


Representative Matters

Case highlights include real estate matters and investment property interests for construction development, mediation and arbitration of claims for failure of structure at a construction site, interpretation of blueprints, quality of materials, labor issues, over time, as well as general substantial contract and commercial mediation and arbitration cases. Ms. Juliano recently completed a 13-day construction arbitration involving quality of material, blueprint interpretation and cost management. She has mediated many complex litigation cases with multiple parties, private and governmental.

Jane has taught conflict resolution, mediation and mediation advocacy in numerous workshops and trainings for a wide variety of organizations including the FTC panel on gender and negotiation, ABA, SPIDR, D.C. Bar, Virginia Bar, Virginia Women’s Attorneys Assn., D.C. Women’s Bar Assn., Virginia Mediation Network, Catholic University Law School and numerous D.C. area law firms. Topics have included best practices in mediation, representing your client in mediation, ethics in mediation, tax issues in mediation, using outside experts in mediation, advanced EEO mediation and conflict management for managers.
