Never Married or Unmarried Parents Mediation

Unmarried parents or never married parents can work with a mediator to develop a parenting plan or visitation schedule, to discuss child support, and to reach agreement about sharing custody of a child or children. Some parents also use mediation to discuss health insurance, property division, college expenses and/or debt. Once agreement is reached on the topics parents need to discuss, some unmarried parents have their agreement made part of a court order while others chose not to involve court. For those who do go to court, a judge from a Probate and Family Court Department in Massachusetts must review the agreement and find that it is fair, reasonable, and in the best interest of the child(ren).
