Advanced Dispute Resolution Training for Probation Staff

This comprehensive 35-hour advanced dispute resolution training program is designed to provide advanced dispute resolution training to line Probation staff in the various divisions of the Probate and Family Court Probation Departments.

The expectation is that after completion of the training, line Probate and Family Court Probation Officers will have more finely honed resolution skills to apply to their daily work at the local court level to generate more agreements/positive outcomes. In addition, they will be able to serve as subject matter experts in future Massachusetts Probation Service trainings, and assist in the development and or delivery of dispute intervention training programs for newly appointed Probation Officers in the Probate and Family Court

Josh Hoch is an experienced ombuds, mediator, and instructor with MWI since 2001. He is the Director of Ombuds & Mediation Services, overseeing MWI’s Outsourced Ombuds Panel and Conference Ombuds. He has provided ombuds services for notable clients such as CVS Health, Arapahoe Basin, and John Moriarty & Associates. Josh collaborates with organizations seeking conference ombuds services and mediates a diverse range of case types. As MWI’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) liaison, he manages employment and higher education referrals for MWI mediators nationwide. Additionally, Josh conducts advanced mediation training for various clients, including the Executive Office of the Massachusetts Trial Court. He is an active member of the International Ombuds Association (IOA) and the East Coast Ombuds Group (ECOG). With over 24 years at MWI, Josh brings a wealth of experience to his work in conflict resolution.

Dispute Resolution Experience

Madison “Matt” Thompson has worked for more than three decades in the areas of negotiation, conflict resolution, and cultural competency. He has worked with large, regional banking institutions, higher education institutions, and major teaching hospitals as well local banks and community non-profit agencies. He has worked with such diverse client groups as the Florida Department of Health, Nova Southeastern University, The Massachusetts Office of Dispute Resolution, Dorchester People for Peace, the New England Regional Black Nurses Association and the Concerned Black Men of Massachusetts.


Focus Areas

Matt has served the health care industry for 40 years as a direct care provider, trainer and senior human resources administrator. He has sixteen years’ experience as a health care provider coupled with ten years in the military health care system.
