  MWI's TRAIN THE TRAINER INSTITUTE - click here to register for this course

MWI's Train the Trainer Institute is a two-day seminar designed to prepare experienced mediators and other dispute resolution professionals to become effective conflict resolution trainers and role-play coaches. 


TOPICS TO INCLUDE 

  • How to stay focused on goals and outcomes;
  • Working with trainees;
  • How to select and use different presentation media;
  • How to be a facilitator, leader, coordinator, all at the same time;
  • How to judge timing of various sections of the course;
  • How to choose the right method of delivery of material;
  • How to set up a classroom;
  • How to present information effectively;
  • How to manage a group;
  • How to provide effective feedback and evaluations;
  • What kind of material to distribute;
  • How to present mediation, negotiation and dispute resolution concepts with impact;
  • How to facilitate skill-building exercises;
  • The importance of being clear and purposeful;
  • On knowing your material;
  • How to foster group participation;
  • How to translate experiences into basic concepts that trainees can internalize and practice;
  • How to coach role-plays and provide feedback to trainees;
  • Intervention strategies;
  • Pre and post training responsibilities;
  • The logistics of putting on a successful training;
  • Programmatic and administrative issues;
  • Dealing with difficult participants;
  • ... and more.

METHODOLOGY 

An interactive, hands on, skill-building approach will be applied and practiced.  Participants will be given opportunities to make group presentations and coach role-plays.  Each trainer in training will receive individual coaching and tailored feedback.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND 

This program is geared for mediators and other ADR practitioners who have a particular interest in developing their conflict resolution training skills.

TRAINING PREREQUISITES 

  • Mediators and must have completed 30-hours of formal mediation training (or meet their state's requirement). 
  • ADR Practitioners must have completed at least 30-hours of negotiation or other dispute resolution training.


EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES
 

  • Mediators and ADR Practitioners must have experience with at least 10 cases in the past two years.
